Morning allLots of rain overnight but sky is blue at the moment. DH has gone to DS to help him do some work on his car. Hope they don't get too wet!Nothing planned today except sorting out travel insurance now I've booked our holiday, stripping and remaking bed and making a ginger cake and then there are some athletics on the tele so will settle down and watch that after all my, ahem, exertions!Have a good day all x12

Morning, thanks Gers.
It's raining here, but looks quite bright.
We've got the heating on for a couple of hours, the house was so cold yesterday, and I don't like a freezing cold bathroom in the mornings.Takes me back to the good old days when I was young and still lived at home with my parents. Like most people, we had a coal fire in the living room and that was it. If there were visitors expected my dad would light the fire in the sitting room. The good old days weren't always good!
Belated happy anniversary wishes Rosy, hope you had a nice day.
Well, dh ventured into the loft yesterday, so we've made a start, but he found several big bags of cushion pads - there seemed to be an awful lot. Some were fine and I used them straightaway to replace some in the cushions we're using.
There was other stuff, as well, so there's now a charity shop pile and a tip pile.
He also brought our heated throws down, much needed. Good idea to take your old one to the caravan TA
He might pop back up today, there's still plenty to do up there. A while ago he fixed a big hook to the end of some thin rope and it's used to lower things, I'm at the bottom to take them off the hook. Stuff like pillows and other soft things he just dropped down, but you can't do that with everything. I'll stop boring on about the loft, before I send everyone to sleep!
Don't know what today has in store, hope it's something nice. I'm going out to get a new battery in my watch, forgot to do it yesterday when I was out. Bread, veg, milk, and flour are needed so I'll take my trolley.
I had other things to say but now can't remember what they were, I've chuntered on so much about the loft.
However, hope everyone has a good day, and thoughts to the sad and poorly.12 -
Good morning
Thank you for the start @Gers
I was going shopping this morning but it's torrential rain. I've enough in the fridge and freezer so I can manage for a day or two.
Yesterday was hot, cold, sunny and it rained. Did manage an hour in the garden.
Take careIf you walk at night no-one will see you cry.12 -
Morning again - you're not boring on about the loft @Scarlet. It makes me thankful that I have not got anything in mine! Moving house so often made me parsimonious with my belongings and not having children means no school art / craft to store. Mixed blessings for sure.Happy belated anniversary to @Rosy and Mr Rosy. What an achievement.Yesterday was a rinse and repeat of Thursday, torrential though intermittent rain all day. Vicious 'showers' and then beautiful skies for a short while. I managed to time my trip north inbetween the bouts of rain even if it meant sitting in my car outside my front door for five minutes waiting for one to peter out. The postie brought me my first cookbook in a few years, Jamie Oliver's healthy eating one. I was reluctant at first, had a look online and then did the deed. There's a good few that I will make as I'm getting bored with my chicken salad stuff, ready for lentil soup but needing a better variety. I spent a lovely hour browsing through it, putting in bookmarks and wondering if my stocks are either sufficient or in date.Today is open to me. I've brought down more unwanted clothes for the CS bag, took out one particularly old and worn pair of trousers and consigned them to the textile dump bag instead. I've taken off the old nail varnish ready to paint them again later and got a woollen wash ready to start. Coffee brewed and now going to read my newspapers online.I hope that everyone is doing well, not tramping around sodden streets. Hugs to all.10

Good morning @Gers and thanks for the start x
Happy Golden Wedding anniversary to Mr and @RosyRed wonderful achievement xx
I went out with DSis yesterday and got a few bits including a face mask which I donned last night for a little self care. I also had an air fryer delivered - not had one before so will see how we get on with it.
A bit of a slower start today. DH stayed at BFF’s overnight, took him nearly 3 hours to get there (usually 1.5hrs) so won’t see him anytime soon. Not much planned for today and weather looks blustery so may look out a crafting project to keep me busy.Dinner will be SC gammon in cola, mash and cabbage.Have a good day everyone

Morning all. The sun's shining here atm but I doubt it will last. It's cold here in the mornings too but I'm resisting putting on the heating.
We had another good day in London yesterday, doing more geocaching in the Battersea/Clapham area. Started with elevenses at the cafe at the Battersea Cat and Dog's home. Couldn't see anything of the set up there, or the inmates, but it was a nice clean place with an outside seating area. Walked about 9 miles in total, down past Clapham Junction, then back along the Thames and through Battersea Park. Went past the London Helipad, which I didn't know existed, and it was fascinating to see three helicopters, at different times, flying down the Thames and landing there.
Today I'm playing for one of my Morris sides at a school fete and, in true MSE fashion, have made myself some lunch to take with me, as the timing is too awkward to eat at home before I go. Hopefully I'll be able to get a cup of tea there, as we have a 40 minute wait before our last spot. DH has had his Morris event tomorrow cancelled because of the weather forecast. Such a shame, as it's a fund raiser for a local hospice but the Hospice decided it was too wet to go ahead.
I hope all the ailments are clearing up and wish you all a happy Saturday11 -
Morning everyone happy belated anniversary Rosy what an achievement I hope you had a lovely day . Scarlet I’m another that hates the cold when we bought this house it was summer although I love it I made the mistake of when I walked in I could see lovely big rooms with great big high ceilings and deep skirting boards it takes some heating in the winter . Gers I’ve been watching the Jamie Oliver programme I’ve made a couple of things I think you can tweak a lot of his recipes to suit yourself enjoy your reading I’m making his meatballs today there will be a few portions for the freezer . It’s dry at the minute I need to pop out for some veg before the rain starts but other than that it will be cooking housework and my feet up . Thinking of all the poorlies hugs to those that need them have a good day everyone whatever you are doing10

Good morning from a rather windy but currently sunny Mehefinland.
Thunder overnight and a beautiful intense rainbow this morning. Hopefully it will stay dry for a bit so I can continue painting Mehefin towers.
The field has 'greened' up and the nags are enjoying some fresher looking grass. It always amazes me how quickly grass regenerates after drought conditions, to look at it today you wouldn't think it was brown and sere just a few short weeks ago.
@WickedLady4 Can you enlighten me please? I have been getting a lot of Morris dancing popping up on my FB feed, which I have enjoyed, but I am puzzled. I always associate it with men( and women) with kerchiefs, bells etc , but I can't help notice that so many of the teams have outfits which look like they are made up of strips of rag. Is this a new trend, am I missing something? Not really important, just piqued my inquisitive side.
Last Night of the Proms tonight - a sign that Autumn is really just around the corner. It was the only time I ever heard Dawn singing so it will be a bit emotional. However, I shall join in as always, and be hoarse tomorrow
Fair winds and safe home. Hugs and spoons as always
