Beware of 7dayshop reviews

I've been a long-standing customer of 7DayShop. I've recently had a bad experience of reviews not being published. 2 incidents:
1. I bought a multi-tool penknife but the quality was poor (the scissors were so blunt as be useless for cutting anything) So, I wrote a review describing it as a cheap toy.
2. A Kingavon torch with a Lithium battery started to swell pushing the case apart. I put it outside on the concrete and discharged it fully, took a picture of it and reported it to 7DayShop - under 2 years old. Nothing happened, no refund, no replacement, so I wrote a bad review describing the fault and my experience of their poor support.
Result ... ?
For (1), they quickly refunded my money but the review never appeared.
For (2), no refund, no replacement, the review never appeared.
So, it seems that they are suppressing poor reviews and only allowing good reviews to be published thereby distorting the reviews. Be warned.

  • Thanks for the warning but, unless there's some commitment or undertaking on their site that says they will publish all reviews submitted, why would they publish negative ones?

Have you ever seen a review that is less than good?

... why would they publish negative ones?
Because, if you run reviews on your site then there must be an assumption that they at least honest (subject, of course, to removing objectionable reviews, which mine weren't).

I would never make such an assumption. Reviews are just there as an extra bit of marketing.

As I said, try and find a single negative review on that site.

Re 2. how much was it? Martin's oft repeated mantra about the 10p penny whistle lasting 6 months vs the 1000 quid TV springs to mind

Batteries are consumables, hence no refund or replacement. Also means the review was not appropriate.
Might have been nice if they dropped you a line to inform you though.
