E: 27/09 Win a Westland Autumn Lawncare bundle worth over £100

Across the country, many lawns have been left in an unsightly mess after this summer’s heatwaves, they’re brown, patchy, and overrun with weeds – far from the lush, green expanses gardeners aspire to.
But it's not only possible to repair the damage now, but to lay the foundations for a luscious lawn come spring.
Rob Clarke, Lawn Expert, at Westland, said: “Autumn lawn care is important every year, but it’s even more critical this year.
"After a summer of drought and heatwaves, your lawn needs some attention to recover and prepare for winter, as well as to give it the best chance to thrive come spring.
"We should think of our lawns like an animal going into hibernation – grass will need to store nutrients ahead of a long, dark and cold winter, so it can bounce back ready for springtime.
"Follow these steps and come spring, you’ll have a dense, deep green lawn to enjoy:
Scarify & aerate
"Begin by scarifying the lawn with a rake to remove dead thatch and moss.
"A build-up of thatch prevents moisture and nutrients from reaching the soil, impeding healthy growth and also creates an ideal environment for common fungal diseases and pests such as
leatherjackets and chafer grubs to thrive.
"Roots can also become trapped in the thatch layer, making it difficult for them to reach the soil and leaving grass vulnerable before winter."
Feed, and deal with moss & weeds
"Moss thrives in damp, shaded conditions, and if left untreated in autumn, it will thrive in winter and be dominating the lawn
by spring.
"Westland’s All-In-One Autumn Lawn Feed & Moss Killer is developed to get rid of moss and give grass the energy it needs to survive winter - and it can be used from September to November.
Overseed & repair
"To create a thick, green lawn next spring, autumn is the perfect time to overseed.
"Westland’s Gro-Sure® Smart Lawn Seed Fast Start is specially designed for cooler weather and can germinate in temperatures as low as 7°C, perfect for when the temperature in autumn starts to drop.
