That's the thing, I didn't actually make cash withdrawals.Northern_Wanderer said:I doubt that a £2k trip to Amsterdam could be reasonable.Citizens advice will probably tell you what you are reading in people's replies here. Why did you make cash withdrawals rather than pay by card for large expenditure?
When I look at the month to month statements, there was a lot of transfers in to and out of pots but there were also transfers to paypal for various things.
I got involved (for good or bad) in the Reddit "Borrow" sub and lent sums of money to people for a time. I got most of it back, thankfully, but I'm probably about £2k down on that overall as well.
Transferring into and out of pots for what purpose? Do DWP know about these other accounts?0 -
They're not "other accounts". Monzo have a "pot" feature where you can store money in different pots for different things. I have a pot that all of my bills and direct debits come out of. The inheritance money was stored in a savings pot.Northern_Wanderer said:jasonwatkins said:

It's all under the same account, just split up for ease of use.0 -

ok, I see. Moving money around in pots is necessarily spending it though. It's just that you said you made several large withdrawals until there was a few grand left. I imagine you'll be asked to provide bank statements including to other accounts you may hold, and be questioned on any transactions they see fit to ask about.0 -
I wonder if the whole balance of the account was declared in that case then.Northern_Wanderer said:jasonwatkins said:

£15K received.
£5K to one pot, £5K to another & £3k to another is still a £15K balance on the account & not a £2K balance.Life in the slow lane0 -
The Monzo bank statements print a total balance at the top of each sheet that includes every pot.born_again said:

The OP said the inheritance was not declared.0 -
I appreciate this is probably a “how long is a piece of string” question but does anyone think I should include what would essentially be a covering letter when I submit the information?
I have to use my journal to upload a picture of my passport (as well as a picture of me holding it) and then the 4 months of bank statements as well.
They’re obviously going to see the situation so rather than trying to explain myself over the phone to someone at a call centre, is it worth including a message basically admitting I’ve done wrong but offering an explanation of the last 12 months ?
