Extreme Seat Covers not giving refund

Hello, I'm looking for some advice. I placed an order with Extreme Seat Covers (seat covers for my car) back in February, received very little information from them and was told there were delays. I requested a refund in July, and was told I would get my refund at the end of July. This didn't happen. I understand that there is a serious illness in the family business which has caused delays, but the website is now down and no one has responded to messages or picked up the phone since the start of August. I'm worried the company has gone out of business? Is there a way to get my money back?

    How did you pay?
  • With a debit card (next time I'll make sure it's a credit card!) From what I understand, just researching now, I've got 120 days form when the payment was made or when I was expecting the goods. I'm just within the 120 limit for when I was expecting the goods, I'm on the phone to my bank now, but I'm not sure how it's going to go with them. I'm just worried that I'm not going to get the money back at all now!

Debit card is fine as you can still chargeback which is what a CC would do in the first instance as well
  • Update in case anyone else is having the same issue:

My bank is looking into carrying out a charge back. There is a limit on 120 days from when the payment was made or the goods were going to be received (I think!) but as the company never actually told me when I would receive the seat covers this works in my favour.

Were they up front about it not being the normal within 2-3 days as you'd expect most goods to be? IE it says they are made to order so takes X weeks?

I think the card networks make an assumption as to when goods would be received unless it explicitly is said it will be longer but @born_again will know the rules better.
  • If I remember right there was an estimate on the website when I would receive the goods, and I emailed after this date. I got a reply saying there was a delay and then it would be 5-6 weeks more to manufacture them. About 2 weeks after this new estimate I tried to get in touch and got no reply. Eventually I asked for a refund, and was told I would get one, but didn't get it when I was told I would. I feel bad as someone in the company has been very unwell, but I've been down about £350 since February and could really do with the money!

Technically after 15 day Visa 30 Mastercard. You could start a chargeback for non receipt.
Although that is now out of the window as the OP has cancelled the order.
So unless they never responded, then they will just say it was cancelled.

If they have shut down, then that is a moot point & would go for non receipt.

    Is  this the site?

  • Thanks born_again! I can't post links, but the website is extremeseatcovers . co . uk . So if I understand it's possible to still get my money back, but complicated by the fact that I've cancelled my order and requested a refund? They did say they would give me a refund, but that never happened.
