BT Broadband

Hi Forumites
I am and have been with BT Broadband for a number of years and as they have now joined up with EE I have contacted BT to try and change to the exact same package with EE which happens to be over £20 per month cheaper but have been told that this cannot happen until my contract ends in March 2026 or I could pay an ERC of £150 to transfer over now. This seems very unfair because as a new customer I would get the new rate and if I transfered from another provider they will pay upto £300 exit fee
Has anyone else on here encountered this or had success in transfering mid contract without a charge or hitch
Cheers for any information

BT bought EE nearly ten years ago, well before you'd have signed up to your current contract, so there doesn't appear to be any obvious entitlement to waive ERCs here simply because you've seen a better deal under the EE branding?0

Maybe you can transfer to an ISP who will pay your BT ERC. Then you could transfer a second time, to EE, and get EE to repay the second ERC.You say you have been with BT for years. Whenever your contract expires, do you negotiate a good deal or just take whatever they offer? If BT were one of the best ISPs I could understand you wanting to stick with them...but as it is I wonder why you've stuck with them for so long already.0

I am with B T Broadband, and also have an E E Mobile. Every time I visit the E E$ store, they are keen to switch me to E E Broadband at lower cost. Maybe worth a try.0

On the phone to EE a couple of weeks ago, they offered to pay up to £200 in early termination fees for me to switch my broadband from Plusnet to EE. Since they’re all part of the BT family, I’m assuming they can offer the same to you.0
