Travel insurance dilemma

I have a travel policy in place for an upcoming trip. Two weeks ago I fell, resulting in a few stitches and a rib fracture. I’ve been discharged by the hospital as my recovery is going well, with no follow up appointments booked. Do I need to inform the insurance company of this accident or as I’ve been discharged is this necessary?

Yes you should inform the travel insurance. Otherwise anything even remotely related to your stitched wound or your rib fracture could be excluded. You currently have a higher than average risk of needing medical treatment. So maybe the recommendation is for you to delay the trip. But the travel insurance people are the ones to advise.2

Your policy document will probably state that you need to advise them of any change
Don’t try to second guess them. If it is of no consequence then it will just cost you a phone call.
If it does matter then you will be covered.1 -
Update-thanks for the advice. Phoned insurance today. As injury took place post taking out policy it is classed as ‘unforeseen city’ and I remain fully insured!!!1

Thanks for coming back with an update, many people don't. Glad to hear you did phone your insurer and that they confirmed you are covered. As @sheramber said, never second guess an insurance company. You will now have peace of mind, rather than have it at the back of your mind whether you are still covered or not.CasTigerLad said:Update-thanks for the advice. Phoned insurance today.
