AVC performing badly

I have been investing into a Prudential AVC since Nov 2016, this with a view to retiring at the age of 65 in March next year. My problem is, I with very little knowledge of gilts and bonds and didn't realise the Pru were investing my money into a product called S3 long term Gilt passive pension and S3 index linked accumulation. I have only now discovered that these products nose dived following the Liz Truss debacle in 2022 and have never recovered, resulting in a loss of 12k in the amount I have contributed. I think I can change how the money is invested and put it into a product called ' Lifestyle Strategy' however, if I were to do this would I lose even more money as I suspect it is a long term investment. Alternatively, do I stick with the current investment and hope it recovers in a few years time?
