Apparently a few of you are not aware of this chrome extension, it is called "property log", it runs with Rightmove offering further analytics.
It shows you how long a property has been on the market and how much each property has had its prices revised.

If you're looking to buy it's so useful to see what houses are doing in the area you are looking, how long they've been on the market and how much they've revised the price (up or down(

I learnt about property log from a creepy dog walker who was passing my house when I was in the drive.  He shouted out ' I see from property log you've reduced the price again'.  Ghastly, I gave a polite smile and went into the house and had a google.  It was then I discovered a website where people boast about the low offers they managed to get accepted with various ruses - pretending they have to go abroad for work etc.  Not a nice afternoon's browsing.

How do you get a discount by moving abroad?  Also which website?

Sorry @inigma, I meant the buyer rushed the vendor into a decision ie accepting their low offer by pretending they were leaving the country.  I've not looked for the site since but realised as a lone widow I was easy prey.

My buyer charmed the girls at the EA and they often referred to him as 'poor X', and I fell for it too when they persuaded me to pay for his damp/timber survey, 'he's spent so much money'.  Bloke is a millionaire, turned up on completion day in a new BMW and his listed building planning permission requests will be very very costly.  I am bitter but do count my blessings in this bungalow, honest!.

I am sorry you went through that.  In general if estate agents were only allowed to charge a flat fee rather than a % then the market would be a far better place.  If you are happy with the roof over your head you will be richer than the person willing to go up to their eyeballs in debt to buy a house they can't afford to impress people they don't like.

I just want a house with a garden, have a paddling pool for my daughter and a BBQ for us enjoy in the warm months!  Living in a flat has its advantages and disadvantages!

I would rather have paid the EA than the auction house, I hadn't really worked out the VAT and paid a humungous sum in the end - and to the same creep of a buyer.  In your house hunting don't forget to hope for nice neighbours :).  I do have a pleasant neighbour in the semi attached here but he is at the peak of his coping skills with his family, he is their full time carer.  When Storm Arwen ripped the flat roof off over the lounge/kitchen here it was heading for his glass conservatory.  I ran next door to tell him and he just said 'go back inside, nothing we can do'.  Personally if someone had come to my door in such distress I would have invited them in, but we are all different aren't we.

A serious seller, sensibly priced for the market, and with offers coming in wouldn`t be taken in by that.
  • After 40 days, or it may be 90, Property Log requires monthly payment. The way around this is to uninstall and reinstall it. I would have been OK with making a small payment but as PL asks for your help with house history, which I filled in on several occasions, and since it didn't inform me at any point that it would be paid after a trial period, I don't feel that bad.

I did not know that, I naïvely though it was free.
However I first downloaded it about 150 days ago and it still works.
Their info only says that if you use up your 'generous free allowance' the figures will be blurred until you pay £2.99 a month.
