Everything from Octopus comes from the same address HELLO@OCTOPUS.ENERGY - Which does get through for everything else (bills etc) - so doesn't that imply that Octopus are NOT sending me "free electricity" emails ?WiserMiser said:
Doesn't mean they weren't sent. Organisations such as Spamhaus can be a right pain by blocking legitimate emails. They don't like emails sent to multiple recipients, or your current IP address may have once been used by a spammer.MouldyOldDough said:But I have checked with my ISP and this is a blatant LIE - in case of blocking or similar - no emails arrived at my end !No.Spam filters look at much more than just the sending email address.

As above many filters will see “free” as junk/scam/spam , I sent a mail to a friend asking if he was free … and it disappeared, sent again and changed to available and he got it.QrizB said:MouldyOldDough said:

I think spam filters are a bit more sophisticated - anything with a subject line of offering you something 'free' is going to be viewed with suspicion by the filter.MouldyOldDough said:WiserMiser said:

My ISP should be able to tell me whether an email has arrived and been filtered out and they say no.

Someone more technically clued up might correct me, but I don't see how your ISP(Company A) can tell if your email (Company B, in this case the Very Good Email Company, as you say) has been filtered.MouldyOldDough said:GingerTim said:

I'd be more worried if your ISP was able do that!0 -

I'm no expert but with millions of customers I'd imagine that they may send emails from more than one OP addess. If it's been blacklisted by Spamhouse (for whatever reason) then you won't receive it.Similarly, your email provider's spam filter may be triggered by 'free', 'special offer' etc.I often have trouble when sending to a distribution list hosted by a university. Spamhaus doesn't seem to like the university or gmail accounts, or both.Try adding HELLO@OCTOPUS.ENERGY to your Safe Senders list.0 -

Try sending a email to yourself with "free electricity notification" as the subject line. Just not from the account that is not receiving them.MouldyOldDough said:I have got the address in my safe senders list and have always received bills and other info from hello@octopus.energy - just no "free electricity notification"Life in the slow lane0 -
