    I'm not convinced depreciation on new EVs is that bad.  Most are being sold with big discounts and incentives, but people seem to try to work out depreciation from list price, not discounted price.

    As a comparison with other types of models, it's bad.
    Far worse than Hybrid residuals but these discounts and incentives stop most EV models looking horrific but things might be about to get worse.

    There is a worry now that these new EV grants are going to impact the used prices after PCP, lease and fleet deals end, particularly shorter term deals of two or less years.

    It's thought that the short term depreciation hit will increase and that will knock on and continue to erode prices further down the line.

    There is some worry in the trade that we might be following a similar path other governments/markets have ran, like Italy. Their EV market boomed and residuals hit the floor.

    Well, that happened sooner than expected! Driving my 'new' Kuga home, stopping off now at Cambridge overnight - and now in t'pub.
    It's a Phev, and - wow - an eye opener. Electric sooo quiet and smooth in town, and the 2.5 achieved over 40mpg at around 70mpg for the first part of the journey - A1 and motorways. 
    I have PV at home, so anticipate next to zero fuel costs for most local journeys.
    Thanks, folks - input here genuinely pushed me towards that decision :smile:

    Enjoy! We bought a mk1 Kuga as a station car for £450 last month - great car, I can see the attraction.

    If you’re amazed by a short hop on electric - the first time you do 500 mile trip in one you’ll be blown away with the lack of fatigue. We use ours all the time unless we really need the seven seater.

    Enjoy! We bought a mk1 Kuga as a station car for £450 last month - great car, I can see the attraction.

    If you’re amazed by a short hop on electric - the first time you do 500 mile trip in one you’ll be blown away with the lack of fatigue. We use ours all the time unless we really need the seven seater.

    Know what? My C4 Picasso is more comfy! And has less road noise. I like the firm seats, tho'.
    The Kuga has much firmer suspension, and on rough roads - of which there were a few - you really feel it. These are 18" wheels with (I think) 65 profile tyres, so shouldn't be harsh, but I'll be choosing new tyres based on dbs the next time around. 
    But, overall, quite a motor.

    That’s the French for you. C4 Picasso has always been good for that.  Tyres make all the difference especially on UK roads which are built for grip rather than noise.

    Sounds like it was due to be solved in an over-the-air update in Q2 - your local dealer will be able to confirm

    I've just bought a CX-5 petrol, manual.
    One thing that did come up on the sales process was that the automatic versions first year tax is double that of the petrol one.
    I wanted manual anyway, but initially they mistakenly did the paperwork for an automatic.
    (Oh, and by the way, that initial tax doubled this year - I wonder who buys vehicles other than working people?)
