Equiniti

Equiniti couldn't be worse if they tried!

Having advised the death and sent the grant of probate we then instructed them to sell 3 different share holdings:

Company A - worth about £500
Company B - worth about £1500
Company C - worth about £9000

We completed the sale form (single form for all three holdings) after finding the right one on their website (they never actually sent us
any instructions or forms after acknowledging and returning the grant of probate).
We included the original share certificates for Company A and C but inserted a letter because we could not locate the certificate for Company B. All sent in the same envelope Special Delivery.

They have now returned our sale instruction minus ANY of the share certificates we sent with a letter saying they are unable to process the sale of Company C because we haven't sent them the certificate for Company C, no mention of Company A or B whatsoever.

We did send them the share certificate for Company C. I know exactly what we sent them because we took photocopies of the certificates and forms.

Their letter doesn't even have a reference number for us to query and respond to their letter. It just gives a phone number to try to obtain a replacement certificate and which we likely have to pay for.

What a mess!

I did, my spelling mistake (post now edited)

    but they are still atrocious.....
  • Agree, they are awful. We have had a similar issue with them - Completed the forms, filled everything in as required, tracked posted all back to them, and then nothing for the past month plus. Chased last week and the person on the chat disconnected. Emailed them and not heard anything. They seem to be making it as awkward as possible when we are still grieving

To be fair I found their webchat (shareview.co.uk) to be excellent and got everything sorted very quickly, but their forms and processes simply aren't equipped for a digital world and need a complete overhaul

They sent me a letter every month from when I informed them of the death to when I finally got probate and told me to ignore each one. Once I told them I had probate they simply stopped communicating. The helpful, until then, bereavement team became uncontactable by phone or email. I simply don’t understand why they make it so difficult. Luckily there weren’t huge amounts involved but there were several accounts as after a previous bereavement they’d failed to put all the shares together despite being asked, so I was dealing with six accounts all with under £200 in each one. If you find a way to navigate their system (or lack thereof!!) please post as I’m sure many others will face this problem too.

I simply went to the webchat (online support) link from the bereavement support page (https://www.shareview.co.uk/4/Info/Portfolio/default/en/home/shareholders/bereavementsupport/Pages/Bereavement-Support.aspx) it seems to put you through to a general support channel initially but I explained I had probate and they put me through to a seperate channel who were then very helpful.
