Enterprise

A copy of weeks ago webHired a Ivec van in Paris France unfortunately we were involved in an accident where roof was very badly damaged . We took it to the nearest Enterprise and after a lot of decisions with Enterprise and the Local branch manager they said that it we paid the 3,500 maximum waifer then the matter would be closed and liable for no more payments which we did . Subsequently we hired another Enterprise vehicle and continued are journey . 3 weeks later we recieved a demand for 6,000 euros saying the damage was not covered under their insurance and if we don’t pay within 14 days it will be passed to debt collection agency . Any advice would be appreciated

What sort of accident? Did you drive under something lower than the vehicle?
  • Yes , it was all reported to the branch manger and he took photographs and spoke to his head office before informing us of the decision to charge 3,500

What does your hire agreement state? Roof and undercarriage damage is often excluded from the CDW where it's the result of driver error but not when it's a third party's fault.
  • I agree but once we returned to branch they went and spoke to head office and informed us that 3,500 would cover the cost of the damage and no more would be left to pay . They then closed the account and gave us another vehicle to continue

It's normal practice that the excess on the CDW is collected up front and the vehicle is dealt with later. In principle if the repairs are below the CDW excess you then get a refund in the future, if its above and is normal AD then thats the end of it but if its damage not covered by the CDW you then get an invoice for the rest of the damage.  The branch manager isnt going to be the person that assesses the vehicle damage or estimates its repair, he's just a sales guy.

The hiring of another vehicle is simply another contract. He's a sales guy, he wants you to rent stuff from him. The back office guys will deal with debt collection if further funds are required to cover the losses.
