Hello,
I am in the process of moving to spain, I used a dedicating moving service however its been 2 weeks since our estimated delivery date and they will not commit to giving me a date when my goods will leave the uk
I will have nowhere to stay from tomorrow and have young children, anyone have any experience of this situation?

International moves can take a while. House contents often only constitute a part load, so there can be a bit of waiting around for a spot to open in the actual logistics.Longer delays are more likely bureaucratic in origin. I went in the other direction last year, Europe to UK, and there was correspondence back and forth with HMRC over ID documents and tax declarations while stuff sat in a warehouse in Rotterdam for nearly three months. When do you actually take up residence? You might have to just travel over and resign yourself to camping on the floor and living out of suitcases until everything arrives.1

What does your CONTRACT or terms and conditions relating to this move state regarding these matters please? - in particular about such issues as those you are experiencing.
Re ""I will have nowhere to stay from tomorrow "" - so you are unable to check in to an hotel then sort out costs later..??? Why??
Is this contract under english law with an english company or what, please??
These things often go wrong, many expect there to be problems.
But good luck & hope things improve shortly.0 -

hello all thanks for responding
when our stuff was collected on the 14th of august we just didnt plan for an eventuality whereby we would be fighting for a dispatch date a month later so we havent packed for return to work and school we just have limited pool clothing.
There was no contact or t&cs given, we discussed the specifics over email, size of the van, cost per square foot, cost per driver and unload and our desired timescales. This is a uk company.
After collection a further £3,800 was demanded due to exceeding a weight limit which was not mentioned prior to this date, they strongarmed us into paying it but this was all of our savings and everything we could borrow so we effectively were already going to need to live on pasta for the month if things were delivered on time
We have a rental here that is empty and waiting, its 2 hours away from our airbnb which is challenging in itself and we were unable to continue to rent a car due to the above cost, we absolutely can go over tothe house when the airbnb expires but i have a 2 year old and 300 euros left until the end of the month....
its completely empty the new house, i could spent a third of our budget to make beds for the kids and sleep on some clothes for a couple of nights but without an estimated delivery date this seemed ridiculous, ive paid nearly 10k for a dedicated delivery service and It is expected that I sleep on the floor with young children for what could be weeks? It just does seem correct to me, and even if I did have access to money it still doesnt seem correct I wouldnt need the delivery van if I was going to go out and buy furniture? it still wouldnt be practical to do more than a few nights on airbeds with little to cook with, no toys, no sanitary items, no cutlery, etc etc
i get that this is a first word problem0 -
Hang on, you're paying for an Airbnb 2 hours away from the rental you are moving to? Wouldn't it be cheaper to just buy some basic furniture?
Spanish beaurocracy is slow at the best of times, but once you throw in customs and all of the extra paperwork around that then no-one can know how long it'd take. I'd have hoped the moving company would have told you as much.0 -
When a friend moved to NZ from UK after her furniture was sent ahead of her departure , to be there when she arrived. Her husband was already there working. She bought blow up beds for her and the kids and used deck chairs to sit on.0

it would have been significantly cheaper than what we have ended paying to just bin all our furniture and buy new, we had no idea the cost would double, its been a disaster of a decision1
