Hotpoint oven not doing much

Hello,

Just moved house and the previous owner left the oven. Only problem is it doesn't seem to work..

It's a Hotpoint Forno SH33. Looks pretty old.

Before we replace I wanted to try and fix.

The clock turns on and can be set correctly. When the heating dials are turned nothing happens (i.e. no interior light, no fan, no heating).

Is there a part I can replace to fix this?

Thanks
Dan

Do you have the user manual? It sounds like you may have it in timer mode. If you don’t you can download the manual here.

I think it's impossible to guess.
I'd start with replacing the light bulb.

    Ye cheeky get!

Edit - you were prob being serious?! Good point - if the new bulb lights up, then you know to keep testing the other parts.

Do you want to post a photo of the front of the machine where the dials are?
  • Thanks all.
I don't think it's in timer mode. I can try replacing the bulb.
Here's the front of the oven in what I believe should be an 'on' position (grill off, oven dial turned left to 200C). The little red thermostat light does not come on. No noise. No heat

Does the left-hand knob make a light 'click' as you turn it back and forth below and above the lowest temp of '50o'?
    Does the grill work?
  • No click as such, a very very light knock as it turns right and almost nothing when it turns left. No grill. Trying to change bulb now (cover seriously gunky)

I went to help one of my elderly neighbours after a power cut, as her oven wouldn't work.  She had tried her best to adjust the time of day but had succeeded in setting the delay timer to 9 hrs 43 minutes instead of 9.43 am.  Your picture shows 08:36, is that time of day?
Your picture looks like it is the type where you have to press the middle button to change the selection from start delay to end time to set clock and each successive press moves it on to the next function.

You could try switching all the controls to off position and switching off at the main, leave for awhile then start up again, you will have a better idea then if timer has inadvertently been set.
