woodworm in bathroom

I am getting the bathroom replaced and the tradesperson is about to put in a shower tray but he says he  sees signs of woodworm. He is going to get his mate to check it out and  this may suggest  a need for woodworm treatment before they go ahead and put the new shower tray and shower unit in.  Im a bit confused. Is treatment necessary ?  does killing the woodworm strengthen the flooring. If they only treat the area where the shower tray is going and there is woodworm elsewhere in the house , how will this stop the woodworm crawling to where the shower tray is .  I have attached a picture of the wood  from the floor . how do they know that the woodworm is there and hasn’t gone

Flight holes are left when the wood worm has left. There can still be grubs inside eating away at the timber.
