Buying washing machine: Additional insurance useful?

Dear All,
we're considering buying a washing machine via Curry's. It's a Bosch with a 5-year extended warranty. At the same time, Curry offers a 5-year guarantee for £150.
Seems a bit steep for something similar, so I was wondering whether these additional insurances make sense on top of the 5-year Bosch guarantee?
Best wishes,
Andre

Remember that for the Bosch one you have to register the goods within 3 months of purchase else you just get the standard 2 years.
Personally I dont, they dont represent good value to me and fortunately if I had to I could afford to replace the machine without significant value. Other people prefer to have them with the relative piece of mind that they won't have big bills in the near future.
It's certainly worth checking both to see what happens if the machine is beyond encomical repair. Some warranties leave you on your own or at best offer a modest discount off a new machine whereas others will replace the machine if they can't repair it at a reasonable cost.1 -
Stick with the Bosch one by registering it. It covers parts and labour, the Currys's one is presumably intended for those that only come with a one or two year warranty.0

Don't get the curry's policy, they just offer it as an add on regardless of whether you need it or not.0

I personally have self-insured since 1999. The amount of money I've saved is shocking, if anything breaks then I just buy a new one (if I can't repair it)0

Assuming you have self insured as stated, at what value have you set the pot? Presumably less than having to replace every white good at the same time?0 -
If the machine has a five year parts and labour guarantee I would stick with just that. Have a look if John Lewis can price match the machine, not sure if there two year electrical cover is on top of the manufacturers warranty. We had a four year-old machine from John Lewis which went faulty. They replaced the entire machine with a new upgraded model and a new five year guarantee.
