Name of missing part?

Hi all
When getting my gutters cleaned the tradesman took a picture of a missing part but he couldn't remember the name of it.
Anyone know? And is it important to fix it?
What's the name of the missing part that is revealing the insulation?
What's the name of the missing part that is revealing the insulation?

Thanks all

Barge board maybe?
Are you sure that's insulation?
Is the missing bit at the bottom of the roof in the gutter what he is on about?
A better photo is needed really.
If that's insulation I would check your attic/loft asap for leaks and damage.

Yup - better pic required. But, is your roof 'stepped' along its length? Is your house built on sideways sloping ground?!It looks like 'dry-verge' type capping, designed to finish off the side edges of tiling, but also - presumably - can accommodate stepped levels in long roof runs? But, pure guesswork. In any event, I think a proper roofer might be a better bet to sort it, to ensure it's watertight?0

Looks like a high profile bonding gutter to me. You should get it fixed.0

I think it's a dry verge cap missing too. Your neighbours gutters need attention.0

Had a roofer out and he said nothing wrong with it. Its expanding foam there and under it is lead. As its how its meant to be.0

Exposed expanding foam is never the correct method for anything, still less a roof!

It looks like the roofs are roughly the same level, but originally they had the party walls taken up to form fire walls. These often get taken down over the years because of the maintenance issues with them. If there's different tiles on the roofs a bonding gutter would be used.1
