Attendance allowance funds Help ..

A bit advice please .
My father has been granted Attendance allowance , he wants to use the funds to pay the help he receives from the family ( I live with him ) but other members like my sister and brother in law helpout for appoitments , washing , cooking etc .
He wants me to setup a direct debit from his account into mine and them I distribute the funds , is this allowed ? Would I need to keep receipts in case the benefit people ask where the money has gone ? Otherwise I / he would have to take the cash out and use it that way which is a hassle ..
Currently I am handling all his direct debits , banking , phone calls and have POA ..

He can spend it on anything he wants (the 2:20 at Newmarket?) and won't be asked any questions by the DWP.#2 Saving for Christmas 2024 - £1 a day challenge. £325 of £3661

Since you are acting as an admin for him I would keep records. Not because of DWP but in case someone like the local authority get involved in providing care for him (at home or elsewhere) and want to check his financial records. It also might be helpful in case family members start asking questions about this as well - families can get very funny about money so best to be organised for all eventualities. I don't think receipts would be necessary - I didn't need to provide the LA with any for my MiL.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. That is true. The government make it clear that it can be used for anything that improves your quality of life. They don’t check on what you spend it on anywayJGB1955 said:He can spend it on anything he wants (the 2:20 at Newmarket?) and won't be asked any questions by the DWP.0 -
Thanks .. was just concerned if he setup a standing order to my account it could raise a few eyebrows at the DWP .. My other concern was could it be seen as an income and liable tax for me if it sits in my account ?0

I’ve been on Attendance Allowance for just over 3 years. The only time they’ve ever contacted me has been when they tell me how much the increased rate will be. 😺1

Thanks , hopefully they wont be any issues with the tranfer to his children . Like i said it is just saves him withdrawing the cash for us to use / , make payment on his behalf.Murphybear said:I’ve been on Attendance Allowance for just over 3 years. My sister is coming for the first time in a few years to visit from overseas and my dad wants to give 3k from his savings as a gift ( he had a compensation payout after a fall so would be coming from this ) . He does get pension credit and attendance allowance ( for the last 2 months ) but was wondering if this will this be ok ? or could be seen as deprevation of funds ... he says it is his money but I am worrier .0

That will only come into play if it's from savings above £10,000 and that aren't disregarded (I don't know if compensation payouts are disregarded or not).sidneyyoungblood said:My sister is coming for the first time in a few years to visit from overseas and my dad wants to give 3k from his savings as a gift ( he had a compensation payout after a fall so would be coming from this ) . If it is seen as deprivation of capital because it's from savings above £10,000, at worst they'll continue deducting £6-7 per week from his payment (£1 per £500 above 10k).0
