Debt Collector knocking, original fine not received

Hi,
I’d appreciate some advice.
I received a fine from debt collectors (Bw legal) for a parking at one of the Napiers parking lots.
too late to appeal as I have never updated DVLA records after moving house. Now they are slapping me with £160 fine.
Having read the newbie faqs, I have emailed the collectors to erase my old address. I have called them before I stumbled across this thread to explain but they wouldn’t listen.

The ticket was issued as we overstayed, can’t remember why it took us so long to pay for the parking as it looks like we entered and paid the ticket 20 mins later, but doesn’t matter at this point probably.
I read that the PCN can be erased by landowner in this case it’s RSPB so not sure if that’s possible?
Not sure if I have a leg to stand on to appeal but money is a bit short so I guess I wonder if it’s worth pursuing the legal route or do I just pay now.

Your thread is misleading
1. You have NOT been fined
2. No debt collectors have come knocking
3. Please change your thread title4 -
Not a fine
Napier Parking issued the invoice, not B W Legal
B W Legal is a legal company trying to collect the money for an invoice on behalf of their client Napier Parking
Nobody will come knocking
DO NOT PAY !

Don't talk to debt collectors.
You need to email dpo@napierparking.co.uk and copy in disputeresolution@bwlegal.co.uk stating that your new address for any service is XYZ and to ERASE all records of your previous address.Simple.
Then keep an eye out for any court claim. I also recommend you check your credit report every few weeks.
There is no genuine appeals process. A county court claim is your appeals process. Very few go all the way to a hearing and the vast vast majority are discontinued when they realise you won't pay.7 -
You can read the new MSE Guide to help understand why not to pay and that nobody comes knocking!
Come back if you get a claim form.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Hi there,
as per your advice I have run my credit score and I’m shocked at how much it dropped due to this issue. I’m at the point where I need this problem to go away. Any tips on how I can handle it or have it settled asap?0 -

In addition your credit score is a made up marketing number of no relevance
If you have no default ccj then what you state simply is not true
It would helpful to others if you did not state such stuff

A credit score means nothing
Its your CREDIT FILE that needs to be checked with companies like Experian
If you do have a CCJ on your credit FILE, then it needs rectifying, possibly with a set aside, depending on what is recorded and by whom. A credit score is a symptom, typically caused by a CCJ on a credit FILE
No CCJ is £160 or £170, they tend to be over £200, typically around £300 or more3 -
You are right! Apologies, I have used free Experian showing the value drop and assuming it’s the above issue that is causing the drop, I’ve just upgraded and uncovered someone else opened utility account in my name for my old address (&missed a payment). I’ll delete my posts after this not to confuse anyone.1
