Barclaycard PD question
Comments
-
If paying by SO a person needs to factor in payment dates to make sure each statement gets a payment.
Let's Be Careful Out There0 -
If you can get a balance transfer, even for part of the balance, then get this now (exception if it will end up at a higher rate than Barclaycard are charging and the 0% period is not long).
Use the lower interest to overpay the remaining Barclaycard debt, or the 0% card when the Barclaycard is clear.0 -
Agreed - the key thing is to ensure that either
(a) the SO always goes out after the statement - so maybe delay by a few days if payday sometimes happens before the statement is produced
or
(b) Setup a direct debit for the minimum amount, and set up a SO for the remainder.
Note that option (b) kind of depends on how additional payments affect the direct debit. IIRC with Barclaycard any additional payments or refunds reduce the direct debit. With Lloyds Bank Group cards, additional payments don't reduce the direct debit unless it would put you in credit.
(a) should always work if you get the SO date right
(b) might leave you paying back less than you wanted some months, and might need additional payments to stay on target with the repayment plan.

thanks for the replies folks…
I went to apply for a BT card using the eligibility tool on this website and the options have reduced significantly..
now I can only qualify for £6000 transfer over 15 months instead of the full amount of £8500 over 36m that was there a week or so ago..
nothing has changed since I looked last time…same income, same personal info.
apart from I applied to open a basic savings account with my own bank this morning…(co op bank, so not associated with any credit card I don't think)
any ideas why this is?
I've run out of steam for today in looking at screens in 27 degree heat and just wonder…
shall I apply for the 6k balance transfer just to get the bulk off the BC and have 2 x CC payments each month?
e.g. Remaining 2500 on the BC and 6000 on the new BT Cc?
thanks all, I really appreciate this help
