Are the 'best' health insurance companies like BUPA pretty good at paying for claims?

As in, are there any which are particularly fussy, always querying claims, history, etc?
And which ones are not as fussy?
I'm pondering signing up for Bupa's comprehensive cover (costing approx £100 per month) but I do have a history of assorted health issues - generally nothing serious, just various annoyances, plus I've had IBS for over 20 years and that affects my diet which also affects my health, etc.
I just don't want to sign up for insurance where every claim is extensively queried and possibly refused.

I've had Aviva and Bupa claims and both were very simple but both were corporate policies with no exclusions for pre-existing conditions. I kept Bupa on as a personal customer and after lots of arguments got them to continue the cover on the same basis.
Have you gone through underwriting to see which, if any, of the conditions will be covered and which will be excluded or are you looking at a moratorium policy? The later can make claims approval longer given they may want to check last consultation/prescription to see if you've hit the X years free of it before considering a related claim.1 -
Thanks. No, I'm not gone through any underwriting - is that something which Bupa would do if/when I sign up?0
