Alloa or Falkirk to buy a house?

Hi everyone, I’m in the middle of house-hunting and one of the areas within my budget is the west side of Alloa. To be honest, I’m feeling quite anxious about it because when I search online, I keep finding very mixed opinions. Some people say to stay away, while others talk about friendly neighbours and the nice countryside nearby.

What I really need is to hear from people who actually live there. How does day-to-day life feel in terms of safety, community and overall experience? Is it a place you’d recommend settling in, or do you think towns like Falkirk or Dunfermline might be a better choice in the long run?

I’m not trying to put anywhere down, I just want to make the right decision and the uncertainty is quite overwhelming. Any insight would mean a lot.

I think with a lot of places it's very dependent on exactly where. Everywhere presumably has nice areas really close to bad areas.

The bigger question I have is logistics. From the location choices, are you looking for somewhere you can commute to Edinburgh from? Because if so Falkirk is going to be a lot better (for Glasgow too) as well as a lot more in terms of facilities and activities.

You could look at Streetcheck once you find some areas or postcodes you might be interested, for more information.

We used to live in Fife, of the 3 places mentioned I would go for Dunfermline.  My OH worked in Edinburgh.
