Covéa Home Contents Insurance

I took a policy of home contents only (renting) through Swinton.
I´ve had 6 years of continuous home contents insurance without claiming.
I recently had the misfortune of having to claim on the accidental damage part of the policy - first ever claim.
I filled in the online form and after a week of waiting, no reply.
So i phoned and got told it hadn´t come through, so they took the details over the phone, sent me an email, to which i replied with required documents, they then replied to confirm reciept.
3 weeks on and nothing, I sent an email a couple of days back and as yet no response.
They had said to me during the call there is no timeline on how long for a decision, it takes as long as it needs to be.
Does anyone have any experience of Covea, and how long a claim typically takes to get a decision. It is only for 1 product?
Many Thanks

Claims timing varies considerably depending not only on which insurer you use but what grade of cover you have, if your particular product is done in house or outsourced etc. Covéa as a large multinational insurer do budget policies all the way up to high net worth and your experience is likely to be influenced by where you are on the line.
Presumably the one damaged item isnt something that makes living at home difficult like the cooker?
Ultimately all you can do is register a complaint with them about the timescales. If the case is being reviewed by "special investigations"/counter fraud for some reason it's likely to take longer. The fact you've had the policy 6 years may help mitigate that but given you bought from a broker their ability to see your continuity may be hampered.1
