DRO salary sacrifice
Hi,
I’ve just come for some advice as my DRO was declined on Friday as I have a salary sacrifice car and the payment was too high- it is £579 to the lease company but that’s £400 from my take home pay which includes the insurance, road tax, maintenance etc. at the time of buying I couldn’t get finance and needed a car for my job (it’s part of my contract).
I had some further debt advice through the DRO company but they couldn’t offer me another solution as I have slightly more going out than coming in-there’s no over spending and looking through my statements they couldn’t find ways to reduce my outgoings.

As I need a car for my job, I’m in social housing, have a decent job, I’m not sure how to move from here.
i have 20months left until I return the car or id have to pay a fee which I haven’t got and also buy a car.

If I give the car back then id lose the £200 I get a month from UC and the costs of maintaining and running a car (mine is electric so cost is low) would probably take up the rest so I think id still be eligible for the DRO.
Is it worth me trying to start a DMP until I can return the car and borrow money to buy one for those 12 months from family and then apply again for the DRO? Am lost and worried as I don’t have a solution.
The debt was caused by my mismanagement of my money - I have adhd and am now on medication and better able to manage what I have- and also my income has reduced as my children have turned 18 so no longer get support from dad/child benefit etc.

I think it more likely that we can find a way forward, than Money Wellness, if that's who it was.
But we are going to need more detail and the best board is debt-free wannabee. Can you hop over there and give us a statement of affairs?

Thank you so much, I will do that now0

I assume your DRO was not put forward by the advisor, not declined by the Insolvency Service (thats incredibly rare)
Was there an option to get a cheaper car on salary sacrifice?
Please put the lender names on the SOA, not credit card 1 etc1 -
Yes it was with Money Wellness and they said a lease car isn’t accepted on DRO especially with the cost being so high. There were cheaper cars but at point of buying it, the only cost shown was the difference to our take home pay so was a car £20 a month cheaper but it had a few months wait. Mine was listed as £340 but the cost went up as my mileage use is 15k a year.I’ll pop the information on tomorrow and post in the other thread.Thank you so much for your help0
