DART charge (Dartford Bridge) penalty, but vehicle was registered for autopay?

So received a letter with a fine for the DART charge, for a vehicle I added to the autopay months ago.
It was a reminder, with an extra fee, but we never received the original PCN. Apparently I cannot challenge it, as it is too late. What do I do?
I am sure I added the vehicle to autopay earlier. But when I checked yesterday, it was not on the system. Tried to add it again, it accepts me adding it, saying "You've added 1 vehicle". But when I check, it's not on the system. Is the DARTcharge website broken?

You are normally let off for the first offence.
Your fault or not.
Have you called, for advice.
My car got a fine, registered disabled for 3 months before fine.
I called and was told they had not updated their records.
