Hoover Tumble Dryer recall, how long to fix it

I purchased (£549) a new Hoover Tumble dryer on 30th March 2024 from Currys, the delivery was on 9th April and the door was not aligned and had to be changed, re delivered the following week.
The water container has cracked and replaced in warranty period, however was told its not a warranty item its consumerable.
Then I had the first safety recall in April 2025 and an engineer came out and carried out a repair on the 19th April 2025, we have not used it since die to it being summer but have now been told its still not safe to use. So we have followed the safety recall route again as follows
As we head towards winter, I wanted to ensure the tumble dryer is fixed and have schedulled numerous safty recall visists which they keep cancelling. Lost all faith in Hoover and want my money back as its not fit for purpose do I have statuatory rights
12 August - Cancelled by Hoover
21 August - Cancelled by Hoover
29 August = Cancelled by Hoover
Still waiting for a revised appointment
We called customer service on the number provided (0344 499 5599) and they could not find the customer case or appointment and said they would escalate, we then told them the case Ref 09945584, they found it. andtold us its the safety recall team which arranges the appointments
However told again that they will be oin touch in 5 days to reschedule again - Customer Complaint raised Ref 19745234
So this tumble dryer, I have no faith in Hoover right now what consumer rights do I have as the product and service is not fit for purpose, the tumbkle dryer has not been used since before 19th April 2025. Safety recall is because it has gone of fire and it has a unplu and do not use
Is the the level of service received acceptable ? what are my options is it fix the appliance and make it safe or full refund of purchase price.

Your problem is your consumer rights are with the retailer and you have been dealing with the manufacturer.
You need to contact Curry's, given they did the original replacement you can tell them you are exercising your final right of rejection as they have replaced the product once and the replacement still has an issue.
Note that as it's more than 6 months old however Curry's will be entitled to reduce the refund to reflect the use you had from it before notifying them of the rejection.0 -
Your consumer rights are with currys, but as over 6 months old you need a 3rd party report. To argue the point with them.
As this is now under a safety recall then you are at the mercy of the manufacture to fix this. How long that takes is anyone's guess. Given they have to find the issue, fix the issue & then make the replacement parts. Then arrange for someone to come & fix.Life in the slow lane0 -
I'm in a similar boat having bought a Candy dryer from AO in Nov 2021 (£475) and being now told that I cannot use it due to fire risk. Lodged a repair request 2 weeks ago and no a pip from them. Called today and was told they cannot give any timeline on how long it will take to fix and I just have to wait. Really not happy but doesn't look like much I can do0
