To explain myself - I'm not sure why any details of my vehicle matter to the question I'm asking. I'm asking about good places to sell a car that's going for scrap but someone may take as spares/repair if they have the know-how. What does it matter whether I have a Fiat Panda, a VW Golf or a BMW M5?

The car has some bearing on the people who want to buy it. 
All we know is that there's been some failure rending it virtually scrap and that you think it's worth more than scrap.

A broken M5 will attract a completely different brand of idiots to a broken Panda. 

However, given it's low value and has suffered a mystery failure your buying audience is pretty much just the chancers who think they can buy it for peanuts, bodge it back together and sell on. If it's not something that'd be of interest to an enthusiast or a donor car, then scrapping it is probably just easiest.

These are what I'd use.

Obviously some are better than others depending on your car.

Avoid Webuyanycar. They totally undervalue every time.
