Talktalk email stopping - Thunderbird

I have an ancient TalkTalk (@tinyonline) email address which TT are finally (and probably understandably) declining to allow access to without payment of an ongoing fee, as I am not a TT subscriber. Email Transition FAQs - TalkTalk Help & Support
TT has provided this link to advise on how to download emails, contacts, etc, from the TT account before I lose access to it. Downloading your Personal Data
However I wonder whether I need to do this. I access the email account (and the two gmail emails I use) via the Thunderbird mail suite.
At the moment I can see all my old TT emails in Thunderbird.
Does anyone know whether I will lose those emails within Thunderbird once the email account is closed, or are they essentially already downloaded within Thunderbird and will still remain visible there?
I haven't used the TT account for anything significant for years, and only through Thunderbird anyway, so losing access to the address book and intranet account doesn't bother me.

Many thanks - I couldn't swear which one it was, so best to go through the download process and save to a folder on my laptop, just in case.0

If you're using POP3 in Thunderbird, your emails are already saved locally and won't vanish when TalkTalk cuts access, but if it's IMAP, move them to Local Folders to keep them.2

Thanks for that. Just signed in to my account to see if there was anything worth saving. It's mainly duplicate notifications and a lot of spam.
I think I can live without my TalkTalk emails, nothing worth paying £50 a year for1 -
You should be able to export them to your gmail account.1

I think I can live without my TalkTalk emails, nothing worth paying £50 a year forI was in the same position - 2 years ago - I had an ancient TT business email (gotadsl) that I am still using from 2001....I was told that it was being administered by THE VERY GOOD EMAIL company - at a cost of £23.88 + VAT per year - this I accepted because it allows me to store a vast amount of emails (my profile) of 50Gb of emails - this is years and years worth - which is pretty good value !I pay, annually and it's an excellent service
If I was half as smart as I think I am - I'd be twice as smart as I REALLY am.1
