Hi everyone
On 8th August 2025 we purchased a 66plate Ford Ecosport through an independent dealer.
On 8th August 2025 we purchased a 66plate Ford Ecosport through an independent dealer.
Today 5th September it has developed issues with an automatic gearbox fault.
The independent dealership we purchased it from is advising us to use the AA warranty included within the purchase, however are we best to take it back to the dealer for a refund as we have had it less than 30 days?
Does anyone have any advice?
Ideally we need a quick response as the 30 days is nearly up.
Thank you

Why hesitate to make a warranty claim? You'd probably get a better job done than if you took it back too the independent dealer2

Automatic gearboxes are complex bits of kit. Things can go wrong at any time. If you get this gearbox repaired, there's no reason to think you'd have an above average number of issues0

The danger is the warranty company could reject the claim and will charge for initial investigation.
Given you are within one month of purchase I would be more likely to reject the car and ask for a refund4 -
Dealer should be the one sorting it for you so definitely go back to themRemember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0

Get refund, awful gearboxes. Take car back with letter of refection and leave it with them.0

I would not hesitate to reject the vehicle, get rid, too much risk of the warranty company refusing it.
The fact that the dealer is pointing you straight to the warranty company tells you everything you need to know. Reject don't take the risk.1 -
Is it a powershift gearbox? If so I bet the oil changes were not done when due, that is an expensive job and causes problems if not done.
Ask to see the service record and if sold with FSH reject the car.0
