I dropped a Samsung mobile and the screen went black.Iwas told it needed a new screen but as It was not economical to replace it so I bought a new handset. There are possibly passwords and informatiion on the phone. Any ideas where or how it can be disposed of safely. Grateful for any help or advice. Thanks in advance

Was the phone set up with a PIN, fingerprint or face unlock?

If so, just put it in the local phone recycling facility, nobody is going to bother replacing the screen and then trying to crack the unlocking code.

If it wasn't lock protected, find an online video of how to take it apart, remove the battery safely and take a hammer to the innards.

Recycle the bits and battery, not in domestic rubbish.

Android phones are usually encrypted by default.  I have no concerns about data security if my phone was to find its way into the hands of a criminal
  • Can you connect it to a computer or laptop and wipe it there?

  • There are charities that will collect and safely repair and recycle tech devices.  Your local council will also most likely recycle devices safely.

Just remove the battery and smash the electronics with a hammer
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?
