Pink Flamingo

Bought a Pink Flamingo standard tree from local supermarket about a month ago.

The branches were only about 12 inches long but have since gone mad to over double that.  Problem is, it looks a bit sparse in the middle.  Should I prune it back to where the shoots branch out which would take it back to nearly the 12 inch length again?

Whether I prune it or not will it fill out in the middle?

Wait until winter and then prune it back all over almost to the middle.

Prune each branch by 2/3rds once it has lost it's leaves this autumn. Willows can take a hard pruning and it will grow back nice and bushy next spring.

It's a willow. As long as it can find water it should be indestructible

    That's what I thought!
There seems to be a stem from the middle that has been cut off so that makes it look thinner in the middle.

About a foot from the centre is where all the branches have really branched out thicker so do I cut all the new growth off?  Seems a shame but if it does the job "so be it"

Cutting the leader ( the stem in the middle) is to  make it compact and stop it reaching fir the skies.

If you don't cut all the new growth off it will just continue getting bigger year on year and look rather silly.
