Looking to hand car back due to fault

We bought a Hyundai i800 2017 plate with only 34k miles on the clock 3 months ago and had a warranty from the garage for 3 months post sale. Since then we have only done 3k miles, taking it to 37k mileage.
3 days before the warranty was due to end, the car broke down in the middle of the road. We are now being told it is the dual mass flywheel that is needing replaced and quoted over £3.5k for this.

The garage we had the warranty with have said they are unhappy to pay the quote above as they feel it is too high and have offered to pay £1k towards this - however have told us they paid £1k for another customers exact same repairs recently (showing clearly under their warranty it is covered, it’s just they’re unwilling to fund the higher cost). They then offered to source their own parts and ship them to the garage my car is sat with at present for them to fit it but the local garage refused this as they will only use their own approved parts.
We have since contacted the finance company who is going to provide an independent inspection of the car to establish if we have grounds to reject the car.
Surely this cannot be classed as “wear and tear” considering the vehicle has only done 37k miles total, and only 3k of them have been post sale! I am also suspicious that the garage knew, or at least suspected the vehicle having a fault considering they had just repaired the issue in another vehicle the same around the same time!

Does the warranty fully cover getting any issues fixed by a garage of your choice? Any reason why you can't just take it back to the garage where you bought it and make it their responsibility to get the issue fixed?1

Is it not a case of they are not willing to pay your garage's price?
Is the warranty from the garage or is it a third party warranty?0 -
The answer is simple. Let the supplying garage make the repairs.0

Dual mass flywheels are expensive, but £3.5K sounds excessive. Is this Hyundai parts at a Hyundai main dealer, or a local garage? There can be a big difference. If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0 -

My sister, a while back, had similar on her Kia at a main dealer.
DMF - £1550
Clutch - £355
Slave cylinder - £135
Plus a few sundries - flywheel bolts etc
All in, with labour - same sort of price as the OP's been given.
Same job on my old bus, at an independent Saab specialist - £300 for parts, and 5hrs labour = £800 all in, including a couple of other bits n bobs.0 -
After 3 months, the supplying dealer has one chance to fix it, and then you can ask for a refund (less an allowance for the use you had when it was fine)They don't have to pay main dealer rates that include parts unrelated to the issue- for example they won't put in a new clutch, but the main dealer will talk you into one as the labour is already done. (They might if you pay for the clutch parts though)They could also fit second hand parts if they wanted, provided it fixes the problem and any wear is commensurate with 30,000 miles. It has to go back to the supplying dealer. (Often for a minor repair the supplying dealer would pick up a reasonable bill, but not £3500 for a flywheel that they can get done for £1000)I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
