Help please Derbyshire folk!

I am planning to move to Derbyshire from Northumberland and have seen houses in the following areas but would appreciate any help/recommendations. For context, we are a middle aged couple with a dog, who like the quiet life.

North Wingfield
Danesmoor
Staverley
Bolsover
Ripley
Shuttlewood
Swanwick
Clowne
Inkersall
Woodthorpe

Many thanks ducks! See, I'm trying to get into the swing of things lol! 😉

I travelled around that area quite a lot and recognise some of the names.
I thought the town centres of Stavely, Ripley and Bolsover, looked a bit grim, especially in Winter.

Depends what you are used to and where in Northumberland you are now.

Where will you be working? How much would you want to use public transport?
  • I have recently moved away from Chesterfield and Derbyshire, but all the areas you are listing there are a bit mixed - some more than others! Are you looking close to Chesterfield for a reason? The most popular areas of Ches Vegas tend to be either those closer to Sheffield (for commuting) or those on the way out to the Peak District. Ashgate, Brampton, Holymoorside, Cutthorpe, parts of Newbold. All are quiet, leafy areas with plenty of dog walks. Dronfield is worth considering too. If looking further a field in Northern Derbyshire, Bakewell and Youlgrave are lovely.

I won't. Hubby will, in and around Chesterfield. Probably won't be needing public transport.

"Ches Vegas" 🤣🤣🤣 we know Cutthorpe, Bakewell and Baslow and although they are beautiful, we didn't want to be too rural, which may be difficult in the winter months (I'm not a great driver in snow!) and thinking long term, that we'd be better off nearer towns or at least villages (& maybe a hospital) I will look at Dronfield and Newbold, as you're not the first to recommend there. Many thanks, appreciate it 👍

Thanks, we are in one of Northumberlands old mining towns, so we are fairly used to "grim" 😂.. We are nearby for beautiful coastline, countryside and castles and many would probably think us mad for moving but a change of scenery and house is needed.
