Third party accident repair - mechanical damage discovered after

Can anyone give me some advice please.
I was t-boned at the end of Feb causing damage to drivers wing, whilst it wasn't a fast impact it felt hard.  Naively I went through the third party issuer for repairs which turned into a nightmare and only got my car back at the beginning of April.
When I got my car back and discovered the aircon no longer worked and there appeared to be engine power issues.  I went back to the insurer and was told in the opinion of the accident repairers it could possibly be a result of the accident but I should take my car to a Ford dealer at my own cost to get it assessed. I did complain upon being told this and they did not uphold my complaint and added the Financial Ombudsman line at the bottom of the email.
Due to financial constraints I've not been able to afford this but a local garage whilst doing MOT had a look and told me I had a condenser leak, the aircon was cracked and radiator 'flaps' were damaged (consistent with impact). I've gone back again and they've re-opened the case as they have admitted they shouldn't have added the Financial Ombudsman line and offered me £50 compensation as I'm not entitled to go to the Ombudsman (?) but again said I need to get my car into a Ford dealer at my own expense.
As a result of the mechanical issues I've refrained from using my car, my own insurer won't get involved as I chose to go with the 3rd party.  Where can I go from here? Is it a case of taking the hit?
If you've got this far thanks :)

Your comeback is against the repairer that did the work.

If you don't want to deal with them, then that's your choice... but you'll have to take the hit.

    Is it?
They did the work for the third party insurer not the OP.
There might be a paint warranty or something that transferred to the OP, but isn't it the third party insurer that the OP should deal with?
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

(except air quality and Medical Science ;))

Financial Ombudsman only looks at complaints from the customers of financial institutes, they therefore dont look at complaints from third parties as you arent their customers. The escalation in these cases is to the courts.

Your case would be against the Third Party (TP)/ TP Insurer (TPI) given its the former you allege caused the damage and the later who's stepped in to represent the TP.

Have you spoken to the ford dealer? Wouldnt expect there to be any material cost for you going to them saying the car isnt working properly
