Morning allHope your jet lag gets better Coxy xHeavy rain here and in for the day by the looks of it. Put a toilet mat in washing machine last night. Seems the machine didn't like the dead weight and has been going round for a while not finishing the cycle. I put it on to spin but it didn't like that either! Now have a sodden mat and can't hang it out cos it's raining. First world problems!Went for hearing test yesterday, which wasn't really. Chap checked my ears, put new plastic wires in and and I told him that the problem was that I thought one ear in particular seemed to be getting worse. He's booked me in for a proper hearing test and they'll take it from there.Housework to do later and then not alot. Trout fillets for tea, not had them for a while so that'll make a change.Have a good day all x12

Morning everyone thanks for the start Coxy sorry it’s such an early one for you I’m off out to a cleaning job in a minute it’s raining and it’s set in for the day . I’ve got sausage casserole out of the freezer for later I’m determined I’m not having my freezer stuffed full I will be putting things in for Xmas soon although I’m making a recipe I seen on Jamie Oliver last week for meat balls when I get back so that will fill a gap I have tweaked it a bit but I seem as if I’m spending a small fortune on food and I’ve got my savings head on . Thinking of all the poorlies hugs to those that need them have a good day everyone whatever you are doing10

Morning all. Drizzly looking day today.
I'm off to help at the Larder in a while and then need to make a gluten free cake this afternoon. Also awaiting a message from JL to say what time they will be arriving with the new curtains so lots going on today.
Hope everyone's day goes well.11 -
Morning everyone - I'm all shiny and glowing this morning
I've been idling away just sheep watching. The swallow have mostly gone, sadly, so the cotton balls in the field entranced me. They were all lying down first thing, then they all got up and began wandering around in lines, one behind the other (and there's about 35 of them) up the middle of the field, round back down the side of it and then dispersed to munch. Must be their morning constitution!
Early yesterday morning I zoomed out to collect meds from the vending machine but, when I got home I found that I had the wrong cream. I had ordered it online but the staff at the surgery had prescribed a different one, one that I'd had last year and didn't get on with. So, I phoned the surgery, the pharmacist there rang back, we had a long chat and she agreed that I should be on the new improved version and it was a clerical error by the staff who field the online requests. She's now ordered the new one and deleted the other from the system. Now the wrong cream (two tubes of the stuff) will be wasted. If I had discovered the mistake whilst inside the pharmacy they could be returned to stock, as they've left they will now be binned. Such a waste annoys me but I will remain kind and forgiving of hard pressed NHS staff at the surgery. My mercy mission to set up an elderly friend's iPad was only semi-successful. I manage to get up her email on the browser, couldn't get the app as she still didn't know her Apple ID so that's for tomorrow. My next job is to help her access her late son's locked laptop, I can't do it but my techie nephew can probably do it (not crack it BTW) so I need to get it posted down to him.Today is busy - my cleaner is coming this morning so I've whizzed round putting stray clothes away and tidying the coffee table. The washing machine is loaded, I will push 'start' just before I go out. Later on I've got an appointment at the docs for some tests (nothing nasty) and then this afternoon the garden maintenance bloke is booked to put up some hooks, eyes and wire on the garden walls. I want a new clematis etc and they all need something to cling onto, it's a drill job into stone walls. The forecast is pretty dire so my hopes are not too high.Oh dear @Coxy, it's the awful downside of lovely holidays. @Chrisca - can you put a clothes horse in the bath or shower and hang the toilet mat over it to drip? And yes, the technician only does clean and fit work, they are not audiologists so a second visit is needed, but it'll be worth it. @Izzy - sausage casserole is just what's needed today.Right, I'm awa' - coffee, papers in that order. Take care all, hugs all round.12 -
Good morning
Thank you for the start @Coxy11 sorry you're still struggling with jetlag.
I had a reminder for the annual boiler service, I asked if it could be done in the morning. Message came back all booked for between 3 and 5 pm !!
Weather yesterday was changeable, sunny one minute and torrential rain the next. Still we need it and the water butts were almost empty.
Take careIf you walk at night no-one will see you cry.9 -
Good morning
Wet and windy here, looks set in for the day
Opticians appointment went ok, I've agreed to have my cataracts done sooner rather than later, and get it over and done with. Like others on here I hate anything to do with my eyes , but it's big girls pants on time. It just means OH will be chauffering me around for a while.
Due to the weather I think a beef stew will be tonight's meal, with dumplings of course.
Have a good day all, take care.10 -
I'm back! Seem to be surviving on 5 hours sleep without an afternoon nap - not sure how lol!
I have a list of jobs to get going with today including chasing up about an audiology referral for my semi-deafness in one ear - most annoying! DD's washing mountain is now being tackled but like @Chrisca50 it'll be dried indoors today with windows vented. Dinner will be chilli con carne in the SC and DSis has gifted us apples and pears from her garden, so I'll prep those for crumble and freeze. I have library books to return too - it's only open between 1pm-5pm today.
Annoying about the cream @Gers but good that the correct one will be prescribed from now on. We saw swallows yesterday whilst at a garden centre - so lovely to watch.
MMMMM beef stew and dumplings sounds fab @remmie!
Have a good day everyone,
Coxy

Morning from a soggy Mehefinland
Torrential rain overnight ( at last) and promising more today. I'm sure it's wishful thinking but I thought the field looked greener this morning. It's put paid to the painting for a while, which is just as well as I need to purchase some ( quite a lot) more. The place has never been painted outside since we moved her about 30 years ago!! Must have been good stuff back then lol.
Inundated with windfall pears at the moment - unfortunately lots have scab and/or are bruised. All the 'good' ones are , of course, out of reach! The birds are having a field day so I don't really mind. Everything is so early this year and I suspect it may be a long winter for them. Someone mentioned swallows/swifts and I realised that I had seen very few this year. They were gathered on the wires the other day, but not in large numbers, and now all gone. Quite sad really.
Not a great deal else to report, so as always I wish the poodles better , and please take a spoon or hug as necessary

Morning everyone
Raining here as well and it looks set for the day...not the best weather for the first day back at school.
I've been home since Sunday night, I had a lovely few days with DD in Nuremberg.
Younger DD and little one came home last night, they've had a great holiday with, thankfully no health problems. Little one has spent most of her week in the pool and had made lots of friends to play with. I texted earlier to say have a good first day back, DD replied that she was so excited to go in that she went to breakfast club at 8am. She has a new teacher this year so hopefully she'll like her, the same TA is in her class to do her sugars, etc though she no longer needs a feed into her tubey while she is at school just medicine in her mouth at lunchtime. She has come such a long way since last summer.
So I don't work Wednesdays so I have an extra day off. I need to go down to mam and dads to sort out some paperwork ready for a teams meeting with their bank tomorrow morning. Somehow both cards were declined when I was on holiday, well not somehow more just putting the wrong pin in. I took mam some cash out of the bank and she'll just use that instead of a card and I want to be put on their account as a third person, so I can speak to them without mam or dad having to speak as well.
I might pop into town for a look in the charity shops afterwards, I'll see how heavy the rain is.
Coxy - that was so awful, having to clean that up when you got home. I once came home and found a dead rabbit in my bedroom...one of the cats had somehow brought it through the cat flap! I had to ask the lad next door to come in and get it out for me.
Right, hope everyone has a good day x9 -
Hello all, I got all my tasks done yesterday and even steam cleaned the kitchen floor then missed a nanna nap but went to bed early so feel better this morning.
I've had trouble getting on my laptop this morning so I think it's time to change it as it's 8yrs old and still Windows 10. While it was doing it's thing going round and round, I pottered about. Today I have a small sm delivery arriving with some fresh food to take away with us. I detest going shopping just after we arrive on site so enough goods will be taken for a few days. I ordered a bit of shopping for Dad too so we'll take that up and have a coffee with him.
This afternoon I'll sort out my meds ready for hols and Mr Fix It wants a haircut. Tea will be jacket potatoes and some lo pulled pork.
Yorkslass thanks I'm glad it isn't just me who cleans and you're right it's done at Xmas and Easter too 🤣
Coxy hope you get over the jet lag asap.
Take care all, hugs to the poorly ones and anyone going for appointments today.
nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently9
