Eon fit problems

I moved into a house a year ago with solar panels and a fit account with eon. The seller , unbeknownst to us had the wrong smart meter fitted - not showing net, they were charging the batteries at night and selling back to eon. We were told after 5 months of the account being on hold due to high readings that we would need a new meter fitted, at our cost to show net, and all the electricity we sent to them was ineligible for payment as we had not declared the batteries. They also want the payments they did make returned to them. I’m tempted to go to Ofgem but do not know if it’s worth the hassle. This has been a year of stress with Eon already. Thoughts please.

If the previous owner was (inadvertently or not) in violation of their FIT contract, the previous owner should be the person held liable.

I can however see how EON might choose to suspend payments to *you* as new owner until you've rectified the fault; they might even be able to terminate your participation in the scheme.

You will need to return any payments they have made to you, while you have been the FIT account holder. Payments made prior to you taking over the FIT will need to be repaid by the previous owner.

You can't go to Ofgem - they don't accept complaints from individual account holders.
What exactly are EON asking you to repay? Do they (or you) have the contact details for the previous owner?

Many thanks for your informative response, I appreciate it and am going to move forward with Eon and pay them back in instalments.
