Vodafone extended my contract by eight months without telling me

I ordered a phone through mobiles.co.uk on a 24 month deal in December 2023.

Vodafone have extended my contract to July 2026 without my consent, and have refused to amend the contract date to December 2025. I have also spoken to mobiles.co.uk and Carphone Warehouse (who are linked to mobiles.co.uk according to Vodafone) as suggested by Vodafone but they can't help me either. I have spoken to five people at Vodafone, none of whom have helped me and they have been 30+ minute conversations each time.

I have emailed the Vodafone UK CEO Max Taylor as a last resort.

What are my rights on this and what should I do moving forward? Obviously I won't be renewing with Vodafone!

  • Do you have evidence you signed up to a 24 month contract? i.e. tbe original contract specifying 24 months?

Is it possible the airtime/data element and the phone element were over different periods?

    1) You will have had original contract details from mobiles.co.uk, what does it say your airtime length of contract is in there
    2) How did you know your contract end date is now July 2026 and have your previously seen your contract end date as being December 2025 from the same source.
    3) Did you speak to anyone purporting to be from mobiles.co.uk or Vodafone in July 2025 that may have extended your contract at that point for 12 months?
    4) Vodafone should at the very least be able to tell you what you original signed up to and if it was extended at what date it was extended

Yes to point one, no to point two.

    1. 24 months
    2. I checked the Vodafone app when I was paying a bill, it stated 28 July 2026 as the contract end date
    3. No I haven't spoken to anybody
    4. Vodafone have confirmed I updated in December 2023, but can't amend the contract date end and have passed me off to mobiles.co.uk and Carphone Warehouse, neither of who can amend the contract end date

It's a bizarre situation, I have been with Vodafone for eight years and upgraded every two years like clockwork. Chose to go through mobiles.co.uk this time as their deals were significantly better value!

How did you change from being directly with Vodafone in Dec 23 to going via mobiles.co.uk - did you get a new number (as you can't port to the same network) and notify Vodafone you were ending your existing contract with them?
