Does she enjoy sewing in her free time or is it just in connection to her studies?
I ask because if it is just in connection to her studies then I would try and get to know the ins and outs of what she makes and the particular tools needed for that activity.
Sewing / Craft tools can be really expensive so it would be less wasteful to buy the things needed.
If she sews for herself, dressmaking etc, than a general spread of items would be good.
Boyes is quite a good store for finding a variety of tools/materials etc.0 -
I think it's likely that she has all the basics. Personally I'd buy her a handy sewing related tin she could easily use for odds and ends and put a voucher for Hobbycraft or similar inside or cash.
I, long since, outgrew a traditional sewing box or basket and now have separate storage boxes/tins for threads, tapestry wool, embroidery silks etc etc. I do have one box for basic running repairs with black and white thread, basic scissors, pins etc but she's likely to have one of these already. 🤔0 -

I've spoken with her partner, they've suggest more storage than tools, especially storage on the move as she'll take it with for car journeys or down time.maman said:I think it's likely that she has all the basics. £10 for a basic plastic box is quite expensive. Unless you've already bought it, you might consider the huge range of boxes for sale on Temu such as this one (bigger and a quarter of the price): https://www.temu.com/uk/heavy-duty-sewing-thread-organizer-box-with--42-compartment-storage-case-transparent-compartments-for-spools-threads-needles-space-saving-craft-room-sewing-machine-travel-organizer-durable-plastic-construction-ideal-for-sewing-knitting-quilting-embellishments--home-classroom-or-on-the-go-sewists-sewing-machine-accessories-craft-room-essentials-functional-design-sturdy-construction-home-organizers--reinforced-compartments-g-601103163715315.html?_oak_mp_inf=EPPdr%2BSz1ogBGiAzN2Y1NDk4NDVjMDQ0ZjA5YWIwZjBkYWFkZjNmODYzMCC%2BtdWokzM%3D&top_gallery_url=https%3A%2F%2Fimg.kwcdn.com%2Fproduct%2Fopen%2F8ece2579354a42c19b83e224e53652b7-goods.jpeg&spec_gallery_id=440504&refer_page_sn=10009&refer_source=0&freesia_scene=2&_oak_freesia_scene=2&_oak_rec_ext_1=MjI3&_oak_gallery_order=806031535%2C1277869171%2C1874782388%2C1266319462%2C1150167118&search_key=spool%20holder&refer_page_el_sn=200049&_x_vst_scene=adg&_x_ads_sub_channel=shopping&_x_ns_prz_type=-1&_x_ns_sku_id=17592949557094&_x_ns_gid=601099709653357&_x_ads_channel=google&_x_gmc_account=5584549166&_x_login_type=Google&_x_ns_gg_lnk_type=adr&_x_ads_account=8308307013&_x_ads_set=22841925075&_x_ads_id=186272077194&_x_ads_creative_id=766811525449&_x_ns_source=g&_x_ns_gclid=Cj0KCQjww4TGBhCKARIsAFLXndSnvTYcZvYWuiGurlmbk0Qt_IGZ-Wyx7HB7Al6kzhMQ2YJ-Y7U2SZ0aAuicEALw_wcB&_x_ns_placement=&_x_ns_match_type=&_x_ns_ad_position=&_x_ns_product_id=5584549166-17592949557094&_x_ns_target=&_x_ns_devicemodel=&_x_ns_wbraid=CkwKCAjwoP_FBhA0EjwA_OeIvS_ep_ZbJWj_5h9hR7CuSUPg1RgfeIBON83iA7ToJ_bxaapuXXkr3cmnnihZe8zDN6cmHJghW-gaAvqA&_x_ns_gbraid=0AAAAAo4mICGitcAS1txOiyFUq-8Uf0mt5&_x_ns_targetid=pla-2435561352471&_x_sessn_id=yk7u40pibu&refer_page_name=search_result&refer_page_id=10009_1757532218069_pabklze3pqstrawb_shortcake said:

Sorry about the ridiculously long link!!Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!-1 -
The gutermann one is designed specifically for the threads and is perfect - it's a personal preference but I wouldn't buy anything from Temu or Shein.Marcon said:

Without wanting to repost the ridiculously long link :-)
I bought the one from JL, I've never bought from Temu and I didn't have the time to allow delivery.
I liked the Gutterman one, I've bought some gutterman threads, and thought it's something I can buy a few now and then to help build her collectionMake £2023 in 2023 (#36) £3479.30/£2023
