No Claims Discount

Hi, I've recently sold my own car and am currently just a named driver on my husband's car insurance (and use his car regularly). I've cancelled my car insurance with RAC and have proof of no claims discount which is 9+ years.
I'm considering buying another car but we're going to see how we manage with one for the time being and probably the remainder of this year.
Will I lose my no claims discount?

Most insurers will accept it for up to 2 years from the date on the letter. At times there is one or two that may accept it up to 3 years but that changes over time.

Some couples will alternate each year who's the policyholder so that both maintain their NCD in case they become a two car household again.
