Weston-super-Mare I think is a bit marmite, it's a seaside resort but not really as it's not sea. It's very rundown in part, traffic in and out often seems quite bad and if there's an incident on the motorway then it's pretty much standstill. I'd probably not pick to live in Weston-super-Mare, its a bit chavvy in my opinion, but there are some nicer areas on the outskirts - Uphill as I remember is nice.

Portishead and I think Clevedon can be the same in terms of traffic, but I'd say both of these are more desirable than Weston-super-Mare, but you'll see that in the prices.

On the other hand it's convenient for the Airport.

I think Weston is lovely. I am there at the moment having a few days away with one of my relatives. We have spent part of the day on the pier as its lovely and sunny today and I think the beach is fantastic. Its clean and quite pretty. The town is ok but as you say there are a few run down bits but they are obviously making an effort to regenerate and I could happily live here.

I think I live too close and been too often, as well as the rumours you hear living in Bristol. Years ago the evenings could be pretty bad with boy racers on the front, but that may well have changed.
I'm glad you enjoyed it though, my Mum would happily live there too

Isn't Weston-super-Mare the seaside place I remember from childhood holidays where the sea is far, far out and you can't go there because of the quicksand?

It was always called Weston-Super-Mud! We were down there a year or two ago and people had been in the "water" but came back more like they'd been in a mud bath,.covered head to foot in God knows what
