  • The stack of pallets solution is enhanced if one of them is an anti-clockwise rotating pallet, ideally the third one up the stack.

  • Set fire to the pallets the sofa is on to keep feet warm
  • Assuming heat source is a radiator push the sofa close to it (forget the pallets) and erect a gazebo over them, with screens on the sides you don't need to see out of to view TV etc.  Keeping feet warm is effected by sitting with them in a large cardboard box filled with polystyrene bead cushions or an old duvet.  Have a side table with a hospitality tray/kettle and there you go - a cosy nest.

    Or have a tented ceiling installed at just above standing head height, using reflective thermal material.

    Or try a bit of inversion therapy instead - hang upside down - or just do an occassional handstand.  Against the wall next to a radiator.
