ScarletRibbons said:Izzy, meant to say yesterday, how kind you were to that poor man, he'll never forget it. You mentioned B*nMarche jeans - I always bought them, but I' m now between their sizes. A 12 is too tight, and I'm too old for the sprayed on jeans look, and the 14 is too big, so that's my dilemma. There used to be a local shop chain called Geordie Jeans and they did between sizes - 11,13 etc. Then, I was their size 11, but they closed. I would be bigger than an 11 now though.

Moring all from a dull and windy Mehefinland
Jeans sizing isn't just a 'girl' thing y'know. I have gone from a a 38 to a 34 waist in very short time, and even the 34's are a bit loose - depending on brand. Had to purchase a whole new load of stuff ( good old charity shops - although not many have much male clobber)!
Continues painting of Mehefin towers yesterday. Almost finished another can!! This rough cast is a sod to paint, and I'm dreading the high bits - slow and steady is the only way.
The field has greened up a little ( well it doesn't look quite like a desert any more- think the rain has just washed the dust off) but they are still eyeing up the patch next door. I might have to succumb and give them a bit more field to nibble. Need much more rain though as I can hardly get the electric fence posts into the ground - its that dried out and hard.
Hugs and spoons as always ,

@Gers sympathies re landslide. Always remember a few years ago when we had a holiday at Loch Lomond that we were going to go up there for the views and they'd had one then and we couldn't go up.Rotten luck about the squirrel Coxy, not nice to come home to7

Morning all, we had a sunny day yesterday until the heavens opened in the afternoon when the rain was bouncing off the patio slabs.
Today I need to go out to the village to collect my owing meds and maybe pop over the van with a few things, the latter will depend if it's raining, it's no problem if not but I don't want our bedding to sit in there wet/damp. Unfortunately the weather doesn't seem too favourable at the moment, however the dw is on so I'll wait until it's finished before venturing out anyway.
Later we're going to DD's to celebrate DGS's 16th birthday, where did that tiny baby go ? DGS has requested a Chinese takeaway followed by birthday cake so there's no cooking for me. Sadly it's back to school for Mum and Dad today but the DGC don't go back till Wed as they are now in the older cohort of their school. We'll call in Dad's and take him too if he feels ok and also if he can get in Suzi tank as there's a rather high step in and he struggled last time.
Coxy oh my what a welcome home.
Gers blimey it wasn't long since the last landslide. Hope it gets sorted soon.
Scarlet hope you find your new jeans. The last ones I bought from Mata*an size 14 and I could have done with a 13, but of course they were much too long so had to be taken up. I shamefully tried on a pair of cargo trousers yesterday and I could do them up but would be afraid to sit down ! I have a feeling my meds maybe the culprit, or the cake and biscuits 🤣. I'll start the diet again tomorrow, I'm going to have birthday cake tonight.
Have a good Monday all.
nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently9 -
Morning all, thanks for the start @Gers. A new week and a new month that's being welcomed in by, shall we say, changeable weather - all week!
Today it's a moderate breeze with light rain expected from lunchtime until evening, top temps might get up to 19 deg. I can see I'm going to have to pick my going out moments carefully!
I had an extremely lazy day yesterday but did manage to re-organise the undies/socks etc and found two pairs of socks (unworn because they don't fit very well) for the new CS bag. Earlier this year I bought a pair of PJ bottoms that I team with baggy T-shirts and they're fine for summer but I could do with some warmer ones for winter. I'd like a new pair of boots too. This latter decision was made when I moved the shoe rack from the narrow hallway to the now clear space under the stairs. In the evening I started another jumper with the last batch of yarn from my stash. Will I be able to resist buying more? Who knows. I will try though!
Today I have some hand knits to wash including a jumper that I managed to spill seafood sauce down the front of. You'd think at my age I would have mastered the art of getting food into my mouth! Serves me right for eating with a sandwich in one hand and the other on the keyboard whilst browsing.Once they're in the WM I'll set to making a batch of scones to use up some creme fraiche. H/m spag bol for tea.
My struggle to find good fitting jeans - apart from the fact they're always too long which I can rectify - is more to do with slim hips/legs coupled with a waist measurement that's proportionately bigger than it should be. What I think is fondly referred to as "apple" shape.Correct waist size = too big on the hips; correct hip size = can't do up the waist.
@Gers - Sometimes a girl needs to indulge in retail therapy! Enjoy your new purchases. Fingers crossed the landslide is sorted sooner rather than later.
@Coxy - Welcome home, such a shame you've had to come back to a bout of cleaning - it's bad enough having the holiday washing to do.
@mehefin - You're right, CSs don't seem to have much in the way of menswear. When I took DH's clothes they practically grabbed my hand off and were almost delirious it wasn't yet more ladies wear.
@nanny - Diet? What diet? Enjoy the celebrations (and cake) tonight and give your no longer tiny DGS a hug.
Right, time to knuckle down otherwise I'll achieve nothing today. Have a good day all, stay safe and have a hug if you need one. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.6 -
Morning everyone just the day has ran away with me I’ve met my friend for a coffee and a catch up posted a parcel and put hubby’s prescription in I will walk the dog later I felt a difference this morning it’s really cold here not that I’m out of layers very much I’m always cold but I’m definitely back into them today . Scarlet that’s a blast from the past Geordie Jeans loved them . Nanny enjoyed the cake and the celebrations you can diet tomorrow. Mehefin the charity shop I help out in doesn’t get a lot of men’s stuff in but when we do it goes quickly especially the larger sizes we have some bargains. Coxy what a horrible thing to happen what a shame to end your holiday with all that cleaning. Gers if you are happy with what you bought that’s all that matters you have to treat yourself now and again hope the landslide doesn’t cause you to much trouble. How can it be September I don’t know where this year has gone . Thinking of all the poorlies hugs to those that need them have a good day everyone whatever you are doing8
