Tv sound not working properly

I have a smart tv which I bought from AO.com in November 2023. A couple of times it’s had no sound, this has fixed itself within a couple of days with no intervention from me.

I’ve woken up this morning and the sound is super loud and distorted, as though its underwater. I’m hoping it will fix itself like before, or alternatively I might try and reset the tv (think I may have done this before actually).

My main question is whether I have any rights after nearly two years. In my view the tv is pretty new to be experiencing these kinds of problems. Can I ask for a replacement or is it too late?

Also, what would you try to fix it?

Thanks.

Our TV sometimes loses sound.  Unplugging, not just switching off, sorts it every time.

In answer to the question, you can ask AO.

You have the right to a remedy - this may not be a replacement TV, it could also be a repair or a partial refund.

However AO could ask you to prove that the fault is 'inherent' - meaning due to a poor quality product rather than being something you've caused through misuse or damage. This would require an independent report from an engineer to say what caused the problem, which may be tricky to get.

In the first instance, talk to AO and see what they say.

I have a TV which has some sort of sound normalisation feature; it's intended to balance out sound across different sources but had a habit of randomly increasing/decreasing the volume unexpectedly.
I found where to turn it off.
If you haven't already done it, I'd suggest powering things off and unplugging & re-inserting all connections; sometimes a loose connection can have that effect and also doing so implicitly cleans contacts.
You could also try wiggling cables and seeing if that does anything.

My recently-bought LG TV 43UR78006LK exhibited this mysterious loss of sound problem too. I wasted hours ploughing through menus, resetting it to factory settings etc but TELLITTO1's solution of switching off AT THE PLUG fixed it. Hopefully, it may also fix, perhaps only temporarily, some annoying 'memory full' problems the apps sometimes show.

I would find a forum with users of the TV. Maybe the manufacturer has one. People are happy to complain and post their fixes online these days. Have you updated the firmware?

Yes, many seem to have various levels of "Off".

My Samsung has Off from pressing the On Off button on the remote, a deeper (soft reset) type of Off from pressing and holding the remote button for five seconds then a further level still from actually unplugging from the mains (not just using the switch on the mains socket).

That's more of a standby than off.
