Weird transaction SQ *GREAT CASTLE STREET Ilford.

I don't think that this is fraudulent rather lack of memory.
We have a bill for £20  to   SQ *GREAT CASTLE STREET Ilford.

Any ideas?

SQ is short for "Square". They supply card terminals, and process card payments. So you probably paid somebody who had one of their terminals.

There's a company based in Ilford called GREAT CASTLE STREET LIMITED whose business is "Retail sale via stalls and markets of other goods".

So did you buy something from a market stall using your card?

While they're based in Ilford, I guess they might travel to markets some distance away - so it may have been nowhere near Ilford.

Could be a firm with several branches or operations run from a central payment office

Ilford will be where they are based but if its market stalls then they could be anywhere and it will still say ilford as where the business is based. Mrs has done market stalls all over Europe and each will say London on the transaction.
