CGT

Can someone help please we are selling our second house and we will have to pay CGT.
We had in 2012 a large decking area with pagoda installed at the cost of as I can remember about £8500, but I do not have a receipt I have tried to contact the builder but he has since gone out of business?.

You are allowed to claim improvements and I'm guessing this would count as one ie it was not a repair.

I think this would count as an improvement as it sounds like a substantial.piece of work.

It was not a 'repair' (which wouldn't count)

If you haven’t got a receipt I would use a cautious best estimate.
