Tracking smart meter readings

Our daughter recently had new smart meters fitted on behalf of her new supplier Eon Next, I think.
She had smart meters previously but the gas one was too far from the electric one to be able to communicate due to the very thick walls in the house.  Then the electric one failed, so she arranged for new meters each with their own communication device.

She has an IHD, and can apparently see what she is using, but her supplier says they are not getting any readings.

Is there some central database which collects the information and passes it to the supplier?   Can she access this in any way, or are there any free apps she can use to get the figures that will be used for her bills?

Or does it take a while for it all to start working and she is just being too impatient?

The way it works is the supplier is an authorised party to request the data from the meter.  The requests go via the DCC (Data Communications Company) and I don't know what exactly needs to be done on a technical level for the supplier to be able to start pulling the data.  However other authorised third parties - only with explicit permission by someone signing up and giving their own details - can also request the data in order to run apps like Bright, which will show whether her smart meter is able to communicate.

Suppliers can only bill using data they can access so if Eon are not getting readings (even if e.g. Bright are) your daughter will have to send readings in order to be billed accurately.

There are I think a couple of other apps or sites that can pull the smart meter data to view it but I can't remember any of them off the top of my head that aren't limited to Octopus customers.

The meter connects to suppliers via a DCC controlled external network - and for the hub - thats the wide area network (WAN).
She can check the WAN led on her comms hub to see what state the link might be in - a slow - every 5 sec flash is normally healthy.

How long has it been - it can take a few days - even weeks - before suppliers succesfully connect and display readings on line.

Has she checked with EOn themselves.

EOn Next only tend to update my meter readings on their web portal at monthly statement and cap change times though - so I normally only see the totals once per month - which is their statement frequency too - so there may be nothing to see on line.

They do their own app - which is meant to even include 1/2 hrly data info now - but havent tried it since very early versions.

There are third party apps like bright (hugo, is loop still unavailable to new registrations ?) and a few others that other users here use - who will provide data if actively connected to DCC via WAN.

She could also try polling her smart meter config data - to see if its live on the system - I've never used it but others do post links to it - at this web address - but it's not a use data - its a top level summary - think serial numbers etc - and if a recent swap - it might show old meter details.

My new smart meter took 2 weeks for my supplier- Octopus- to get the readings even though I could see the data from day 1.

I have a similar problem . I have gas and electric smart meters with British Gas. At one point I had to top each up manually. They changed both meters and the electric one worked but I still had to top up manually on the gas. Earlier this year they informed me they were changing to a  new system The electric was fine but since about June I have not been able to top up at all on my gas. They put some money on my gas and then sent an engineer. He didn’t seem to know what the problem was and went away saying they would try and fix it remotely. Still it didn’t work and another engineer came. He seemed equally baffled but thiught my gas meter was too far from the hub. He changed the meter and fitted something called a bridge. It still didn’t work I spoke to them today and they assured me theiy would escalate the matter and send a code to my email to top up by the end of today. I’m still not convinced that will work and am at the end of my tether with it now Any symuggestions?

Eon Next app only has daily data .... and mine has gaps, pretty poor tbh.
Hugo free app no longer working - only paid for now.
    Loop is awful
    Bright does the job.

If you go to the Eon Next app and select usage then Day it should show you data by the hour.

Where did you see the data? There's some internal process within Octopus between receiving the data and it making it into your account.  The Octoprice data checker sees my data several hours before it appears in the Octopus app or web page.

I have a choice of Day, Week or Month (just above the date).  I have the same app version.
