Most suppliers have to offer the SVT. They all charge the same as dictated by Ofgem. You don't have to take the tariff, you can choose another offering.
Ironically, suppliers that actually sell renewables from their own sources, such as Ecotricity, don't have to offer the SVT but they are even more expensive.
Other suppliers offset the fossil content of their mix with carbon credits and are allowed to call it 100% renewable.0 -

So many suppliers make that claim, but all supply the same mix. For example right now 30% of your electricity come from burning gas, 14% from nuclear.vincent64 said:My energy company supplies 100% renewable energy.
