Cost of updating rather than replacing kitchen...

I've just got a quote from one of these companies for new laminate worktops, 2 new cupboard doors, supply and installation of new sink and taps and new extractor fan, capping off of gas supply to current hob, installation and connection of new induction hob.

There will be additional costs for other electrical work to be quoted for separately.

The quote is for just over £4000

I’m about to get quotes for a new kitchen & have seen prices for new units as low as £820 in Wren, obviously not including worktops, sink, tap, handles etc. i’ll be getting designs & quotes soon but I’m expecting the actual kitchen will cos around £6k & Lord knows what for the fitting. I’m beginning to worry I won’t be able to afford it after seeing these estimates on this thread.

I paid £4K for a new kitchen in my house in 1997, and it wasn't a big one, that didn't include the white goods or tiling. I wish you luck getting something for £6K. Fitting costs add massively to the bill.
