Buying a label on ebay

Just sold item on ebay where buyer pays postage (RoyalMail) and was a bit confused when going to print label.
Had to put size of parcel and weight etc and then "buy" the label on ebay before I could print it.
I know this is probably a stupid question as when i looked at what the buyer had paid (plus postage) then that would be correct that I then have to pay for label on ebay but it just didn't feel right.
I have only had one sale previous to this since the new rules about sd came in and don't remember actually buying a label for that sale. I thought I had just printed it.
Sorry if this is really a stupid post but I just felt uneasy and got totally confused by it and wanted confirmation I suppose, that I had done the right thing.

If you had to buy a label then this doesn’t sound lime simple delivery , was it a large letter by any chance? With simple delivery the label is provided and seller just prints it or uses the QR code, they don’t have to buy it or give sizes and weights.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. It was a "small" parcel 1-2kg RM. My shipping is set to use RM for simple delivery.
I think this must be why I got confused as the first sale (I remembered just printing the label ) must have been simple delivery and it seems this latest sale wasn't.
Where does it tell you if it is simple delivery or not?
If its of any consequence, the item I sold was a small job lot of some baby items.0 -

I've not seen any listings automatically changed to simple delivery although when listing a similar item (under £10) simple delivery is the only option, and if I revise a listing it only offers simple delivery. This happened when I found I had more of something than I'd originally listed.0
